Polo Game in London

As some of you may know already, I spent a month in London last summer. Although I was there for my studies, I had the opportunity to explore the city, taste a tiny bit of the British lifestyle and mostly, meet a lot of amazing people.

One day after classes, a friend of mine suggested going to see a polo game – I accepted the invitation right away as I think it is such a beautiful sport and I had never been to any game before.

When we arrived I was so excited to see all the horses (that I think are one of the most beautiful and elegant creatures ever), the players in their nice uniforms and everyone dressed up to attend the game.

What I liked about it was that you could either appreciate the game from one side, sitting down and enjoying a cup of tea, or be on the other side (more casual) throwing your own picnic with friends.

In fact, I was expecting the game to be much more dynamic. You don’t have that many players in both teams but the field has to be huge for the horses to run. As a result, the action may not going on in front of you everytime. This was the only downside.

I loved to see how fast the horses went, and then how precise, delicate but yet strong the kick had to be done for the players to throw the ball. Absolutely amazing.

If you ever go to a polo game and if you are able to bring a picnic or so, I would suggest you to do that. Attending a game like this is more about the atmosphere and enjoying the time spent with your friends and family than really bein drawn to the action (at least in my case because I am not a fine connaisseur of this sport).

Have you ever been to a game like this?

Hoping you are having a wonderful week.

  1. I’m jealous of your month in London, I absolutely love that city. I’ll be there in November and I can’t wait! We actually have a polo field quite near my house that my husband and I will sometimes go watch. It’s fun!
